Frequently asked questions.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine that has been practiced for thousands of years to support the body’s natural healing processes. It involves the gentle insertion of very thin needles into specific points on the body to help restore balance, improve circulation, regulate the nervous system, and support overall well-being.

Is acupuncture painful?

Acupuncture needles do not feel the same as hypodermic needles. Acupuncture needles are hair-like, fine, and very thin. When they are put in, they may cause a mild electrical sensation, but should not feel sharp and painful.

Will my insurance cover acupuncture treatments?

Every healthcare plan is different; this is something that we can discuss and look at when you come in to see me during your initial appointment. You can also contact me, and we can look over whatever plan you’re on and see if you’re covered.

How should I prepare for my acupuncture appointment?

You can prepare in any way that makes you feel most comfortable before the appointment. Wear loose and comfortable clothing, eat a snack before, and try not to consume stimulants right before the appointment (coffee, alcohol, etc).

How long does an appointment take?

Your initial appointment will take 75 minutes, and after that, a regular appointment will take approximately 60 minutes.

How many appointments will it take for me to feel a difference?

Every person is different, and healing happens at differing speeds. Some patients may feel a difference after one appointment, and for some it takes 10 or more appointments. We’ll work together to find a treatment plan that works best for you and your body.

Acute conditions may take a shorter time to heal. Whereas long-term and chronic conditions can take longer to heal as they have been developing over a longer time.

How will I be feeling during and after my appointment?

Many patients find acupuncture treatments deeply calming and relaxing. During your appointment, you may experience sensations such as warmth, heaviness, tingling, or a gentle sense of release within the body. Some people feel energized after treatment, while others feel calm, grounded, or ready for rest.

After an appointment, it’s common to notice a greater sense of relaxation, reduced tension, improved clarity, or a feeling of overall balance and wellbeing. Every person responds differently, and treatments are always tailored to your individual needs and comfort level.

What are some reasons I could come in for acupuncture?

I treat almost anything. It could be an acute, sudden issue that you may be facing such as: general anxiety, stress, immunity issues, sudden headaches, sore muscles, etc. I also treat long-term, chronic issues such as: menstruation difficulties, addiction issues, digestive and chronic pain, etc.

Can I come for acupuncture just for general health reasons?

Yes, we treat many different patients for weekly/monthly health maintenance reasons. Whether that be general stress or anxiety, or feeling like your immune system is weak.
