Acupuncture Services in the Cowichan Valley

Acupuncture is a medicine dating back over 5000 years ago to ancient China. The acupuncture model is based on the premise that the body is an interrelated system of energetic pathways.

These pathways flow throughout the entire body and are all connected to each other at some level. The energy running along these pathways is called Qi, or ‘vital energy’. When the body is in balance, the Qi runs smoothly and nourishes every part of the body. When the body falls out of balance due to either: stress, overwork, poor dietary choices/habits, injury, climactic infuences, etc., the energetic pathways no longer run in smooth succession. Instead the body becomes imbalanced, and one will feel symptoms either mentally or physically or both.

By placing tiny, thin stainless steel needles into strategic areas on the body where the meridians run, a well-trained Acupuncturist is able to help re-balance the body. Therefore either diminishing or subsiding one or more of your ailments, be it physical or emotional. When the body is flowing smoothly, so does one’s mind and health.

Cupping is a traditional therapy often used alongside acupuncture to help relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and support the body’s natural healing processes. Using gentle suction, cups are placed on the skin to encourage blood flow, release tight muscles, and help move stagnation within the body.

Many patients find cupping deeply relaxing and supportive for concerns such as neck and shoulder tension, back pain, headaches, stress, fatigue, and recovery from physical strain. Temporary circular marks may appear after treatment, which are a normal part of the process and typically fade within several days.

Jenn incorporates cupping treatments based on each patient’s individual needs and comfort level, creating a personalized approach to care and recovery.
